Powder Coating
Powder coating is a type of surface finishing that is commonly used on metal parts and products, such as the Currie 60. Unlike traditional liquid paint, which is applied using a wet process, powder coating is applied dry and then baked in an oven to create a hard, durable finish.
To apply powder coating, the metal parts are first cleaned and pre-treated to remove any contaminants or rust. Then, a fine powder made of a mixture of resins, pigments, and other additives is sprayed onto the surface of the metal using an electrostatic charge. The charged powder particles adhere to the metal surface, and any excess powder is then blown off with compressed air. Finally, the coated parts are baked in an oven, where the powder particles melt and fuse together to form a hard, smooth, and durable finish.
Powder coating has many advantages over traditional liquid paint, including its durability, resistance to chipping and scratching, and resistance to fading and discoloration. Additionally, because it is applied dry, powder coating produces less waste and is more environmentally friendly than liquid paint.
Note:Not for use on Currie 60, Extreme 60, 60VXR and 70 series housings.
